Carbon: A Solution not the Problem
Yerrawa, named after the Aboriginal word for boomerang, embodies a fresh perspective on today’s climate challenges. While carbon is often blamed as the primary contributor to the climate crisis, we see it as a crucial part of the solution. Through our innovative technology, our goal is to tackle climate issues by redefining the role of carbon.
Carbon as an Asset, Not an Adversary
In the current climate discourse, carbon is frequently portrayed as the chief antagonist. At Yerrawa, we adopt a different perspective: carbon is not the problem but a valuable resource that, when properly managed, can contribute to a more sustainable world. It’s not carbon itself, but the way we utilize and release it as CO2 that drives global warming. By leveraging carbon efficiently, we can shift the narrative.
Pragmatic Solutions for a Complex Market
Addressing the climate crisis requires a realistic approach and solid economic foundations. We recognize that an immediate halt to fossil fuels is unfeasible given the current structure of the global energy market. While capturing all CO2 emmisions may appear ideal, it is hindered by prohibitive costs and a lack of infrastructure for CO2 storage.
Our technology allows companies to make their production processes sustainable, achieving CO2-neutral or even CO2-negative results without compromising economic viability. This enables us to make a significant short-term impact on resolving the climate crisis.
CarbonPlus: Multifaceted Innovation with Key Advantages
Yerrawa’s patented CarbonPlus technology offers a method to reduce CO2 emissions by converting carbon into a solid state. This carbonization process provides four major benefits:
Carbon is not released as CO2, preventing environmental damage;
The carbon is converted into a high-quality solid material suitable for various applications;
The process generates clean hydrogen, a renewable energy source;
The technique operates under mild conditions making the process highly cost-effective.
Our technology is adaptable and can be applied to a diverse range of materials, from biomass and plastics to fossil fuels, making it one of the most economical solutions for cutting CO2 emissions.
Catalyst for Climate Solutions
Our mission is to make CarbonPlus globally accessible, serving as a catalyst in the battle against climate change. Unlike many other startups, we prioritize collaboration over exclusivity, seeking to forge global partnerships in the next five years to rapidly expand the reach of our technology.
Yerrawa holds a distinctive position in bridging the gap between fossil and renewable energy. With a team of founders who have already made their mark in the energy sector and climate technology, we are equipped to navigate companies through this transition period. Our objective is to establish the initial CarbonPlus facility within five years and to continually advance our technology. We aspire not only to drive corporate action, but also to construct a global framework that substantially curbs CO2 emissions. The urgency of the climate crisis demands immediate action.
THE NAME & LOGO
Looking for a suitable name for a new venture is always fun, but also a challenge. In retrospect I am quite happy with the names we selected in the past: BIOeCON, KiOR, ANTECY and CELLiCON.
I was struggling to find a proper name which would convey our sincere goal to develop circular technology. I am a bit wary about how “Circularity” might become another buzz word without any true meaning and therefore I started searching for an original authentic source.
I rediscovered the Aboriginals with their great respect t for the circularity of life and decided to look for an aboriginal word that could symbolize our quest for circularity.
Initially I found the word “Gaxabara” which means dance. Well dancing is often circular, isn’t it? But no one else really liked the name and so I continued my search until I hit upon “Yerrawa”.
Yerrawa is the aboriginal word for boomerang. I knew immediately that I had hit gold! My pronunciation of the r’s is not so good, but that does not matter; what could be a better word to symbolize circularity than boomerang?
The aboriginals indeed have a great respect for nature and the circularity of life and already 40.000 years ago they developed a technology we now call the “Boomerang” which is a beautiful metaphor for circularity.
The word Yerrawa is written with the ‘Backslash’ font. We chose this font, because the two a’s look like the shape of a Boomerang. The 2 colors in the font – blue and orange – symbolize the colors the Aboriginals often use in their art.
